Concentration 4

25 g Aluminium chloride AlCl3 is dissolved in 200 mL water. What is the concentration of aluminium chloride c(AlCl3), aluminium ions c(Al3+) and chloride ions c(Cl-), respectively?
• State the complete reaction equation that describes this process. Indicate the respective aggregate states with the respective letters (s, l, g, aq).
• Calculate the molar concentration of aluminium ions c(Al3+) and chloride ions c(Cl-) in the solution.

Only red cells need to be completed. In the reaction equation stoichiometric coefficients of 1 also need to be stated explicitely (despite the fact that these are usually not written in a reaction equation).

Reaction equation: AlCl3(s) + H2O (l) → Al3+(aq) + Cl-(aq)
AlCl3 H2O Al3+ Cl-
